About Us

Hello! We’re Artem and Valeria. We’re a Russian couple of digital nomads that found their home in Madeira.

Our story with Madeira began when at the beginning of 2019, we thought that it would be nice to have a second citizenship someday in the future and that it would be better to have a European one. At that time we had already lived in China for two years and realized that we were already tired of Eastern culture and wanted to return to the familiar Western one.

So we moved to Lisbon, Portugal. Six months later, there was a Covid pandemic and a lockdown. On the continent of Portugal, the restrictions were stringent, up to the point where you couldn’t walk away from your home. Not to mention that takeaway coffee was forbidden, too.
At the same time, Madeira even kept its restaurants open. We got tired of being locked up and decided to fly to the island for a weekend to breathe freely a bit. As soon as we stepped off the plane, we fell in love. We fell in love with the colors, the smells, and of course, the bananas that the volunteers were happy to hand us.

Six months later we moved to Madeira for good and we’ve been living here for 2 years now.

Our mission

This site didn’t just appear for nothing, it was born out of a mission. We decided that we had a mission for Madeira and those who are not yet familiar with it. We have to tell the world about such a beautiful place and at the same time teach people to treat Madeira not as a tourist resort but as a nature sanctuary. We were very grateful for the way the island received us, and we respect it and its people. So it is important to us that people visiting Madeira for the first time learn its secret.
